PrivBoard · A private keyboardYou write in your language.
Everyone else reads a mix.
PrivBoard translates each word you finish into a language picked at random from your own list, right on your phone, and types that into the app. You keep reading your own words in the keyboard's preview bar.
You see
hello my name is jason
Still typing: The word you are typing is never sent.
The app receives
你好中文나의한국어nomePortuguês是中文
This demo runs in your browser and makes no network calls. Its phrase table is a small hand-written set of single words, not the app's dictionary.
A message is written for one person.
A screen is read by whoever is nearby.
- On the train
The person beside you reads along without meaning to.
- Showing a photo
Your chat is still open behind it.
- In a screenshot
It reaches people you never wrote to.
- On a shared phone
Left on the table, still unlocked.
PrivBoard is built for those glances. The text field gets a mix of languages. Your own words stay in the preview bar, for you.
It does not change what you type or how you type it. You write the way you always do, in any app, and the keyboard handles the rest before the word reaches the screen.
- Nothing to sign up forThere are no accounts
- Nothing sent anywhereTranslation runs on the phone
- Nothing to set per appIt works in any text field
One word at a time, finished first.
Nothing happens while you are still typing a word. The moment you add a space or punctuation, that word is translated and written to the app.
- hello你好中文
- my나의한국어
- namenomePortuguês
- is是中文
- jasonjason
Names and words the dictionary does not know stay as you typed them.
Finish a word, it is translated
Each finished word becomes a language chosen at random from the list you picked. The dictionaries are bundled in the app and work offline.
The unfinished word stays with you
The word you are still typing lives in memory and in your preview bar. The app's text field only ever receives complete words.
Passwords pass straight through
In password, email address, web address, number and phone fields the keyboard hands over your keys untouched. It never holds them back or translates them.
You read your words.
The field shows the mix.
A preview bar sits above the keys and shows exactly what you typed, in your language. Everything you need to write is there; the app only sees the result.
- A preview bar above the keysYour sentence, as you wrote it, while the field fills up with other languages.
- Backspace gives your word backDelete a translated word and it leaves the field, and your original comes back to edit.
- Word suggestions as you typeThree suggestions from an offline word list, for most languages. Nothing you type is learned or stored.
你好 나의 nome é jason
Six palettes. Five layouts.
Keys with no letters on them.
The keyboard and the app share one look. Pick a palette, a layout and how the keys are drawn, and the app follows your phone's light or dark setting unless you choose one.
- 6Palettes
Each with a light and a dark version.
- 5Layouts
QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak and Colemak.

Blank keys for onlookers. Screen readers still read every key.

A gradient, or a photo that stays on the phone.
These keyboards are drawn in your browser from the colors the app uses. They are drawings, not screenshots.
Light and dark follow your phone unless you pick one.
Private by design. Honest about the limit.

What you type stays on your phone.

Translations come from an offline word list built from Wiktionary. Some languages have far more words than others, so the mix is better in some than in others.

Before you ask.
Does it send what I type anywhere?
No. Typing is processed on your phone and is not stored or sent to us or to any server. The app you type into does receive the translated words, and what it does with them is up to that app.
What happens to passwords?
Password, email address, web address, number and phone fields are passed straight through. The keyboard does not hold them back or translate them.
Can people still read the result?
Yes, if they understand the languages involved. PrivBoard hides text from onlookers and from apps that read the field. It is not encryption.
What if I cancel?
When the subscription ends and a grace period of 3 days has passed, the keyboard shows a locked panel with a key to switch to another keyboard. Your settings stay on your phone.
Is there a free version?
No free tier. There is a 3 day free trial, then the subscription renews automatically until you cancel in the store.
Which phones does it work on?
Android first. An iPhone keyboard is planned and has no date yet.
How do I remove it?
Switch to another keyboard from the keyboard switcher, then uninstall PrivBoard like any other app. Your settings live on the phone and go with it.
Do you track me?
The app and the keyboard have no analytics. This website uses Google Analytics only if you accept it in the cookie banner, and you can change your mind from Cookie settings in the footer.
Type the way you always do.
Let the app read a mix.
Android first, iPhone later. No store listing yet.
